Extrusion Coating and Laminating Line

Extrusion Coating and Laminating Processes

Extrusion coating and extrusion laminating are used to add functional layers to a substrate or combine different materials into a single structure. In extrusion coating, molten resin is applied to the surface of a material. In extrusion laminating, that resin is used to bond two or more substrates together. The materials involved may include plastic, paper, paperboard, or aluminum foil, depending on the application and the performance required from the final structure.

Extrusion coating and laminating lines are usually configured according to the customer’s product and application requirements. Depending on the end use, the composite materials produced can be used for liquid packaging, aseptic beverage cartons, flexible packaging, toothpaste tubes, medical packaging, industrial packaging films, insulation backing materials, plastic-coated tablecloths, and packaging bags for products such as cement, grain, and dry chemical powders.

Through extrusion coating and laminating, different substrates are combined into a composite material whose layers are not easily separated. This composite structure helps improve physical strength and barrier performance, making it suitable for demanding packaging and industrial applications.
